Sponsoring ICML 2005

ICML 2005 Organizational Committee is welcoming all industrial and local organizations to support the student grant programmes and/or to contribute to sponsoring the local organization of the conference.

ICML (International Conference on Machine Learning) is worldwide the largest international conference in machine learning research and applications. About 450 (number is increasing) researchers and industry representatives from all over the world exchange their results and experiences in machine learning basic and applied research every year.

ICML is supported by IMLS (International Machine Learning Society), http://www.machinelearning.org/. The ICML research articles have been included in the ACM International Conference Proceedings Series, i.e., the proceedings are available at the ACM Digital Library.

Types of Sponsoring

1. "Industry Sponsoring Young Researchers"

ICML accepted papers enjoy usually highest reputation among the ML research community. Unfortunatelly not all young researchers, who have a paper accepted at ICML are able to attend the conference to present their research results. Machine Learning research results and the involvement of young researchers have a high impact on industry applications. Therefore, the ICML local hosts will take action to increase the interaction between young researchers and industry. We call into life worldwide the initiative "Industry Sponsoring Young Researchers" for ICML 2005, in Bonn.

The sponsoring amount from the companies will be spent exclusively for conference registration fees and travel expenses of PhD students and young researchers, who have accepted papers at the ICML conference or in ICML workshops. As soon as the papers review process has finished, the companies will be involved in the final evaluation process for selecting the grants for students. They will know the names of the students and the title of their accepted articles. Students will be given the name of the company representative at the conference. Both parties can interact during poster sessions, etc.

For additional information and exhibit fees, please contact the local chairs: Codrina Lauth (info@icml2005.ais.fraunhofer.de) or Michael May.

2. General Local Funding and Support

Several companies have supported ICML local organization in many different ways, e.g last year ICML 2004 in Banff the participants have enjoyed the reception given by google or the conference lab. supported by SunMicrosystems. Giveways for the participants are also highly welcome.
